Minituarized sample processing
To enable analyzes of small volume blood samples (~100 microliters) from newborn children and pediatric patients, senior team member dr Jaromir Mikes developed a whole blood cell stabilizer solution which is now commercially available through a spin-off company, Cytodelics.

The Smart lab
To optimize experimental workflows, minimize costs and ensure full traceability of protocols, procedures and reagents used, Brodin lab senior developer Yang Chen has developed several novel applications that integrate seamlessly and enable more efficient workflows, tracking of reagent consumption and cost savings.

Mechanistic human immunology studies
A challenge in human immunology is to mechanistically investigate cellular processes suggested by observations made in human patient samples. To enable more mechanistic experiments using human immune cells, we develop detailed in vitro systems based on whole blood micro cultures or lymphoid organoids. These experimental systems enable both breath and depth to our analyses of cell signalling pathways, cell-cell interactions and the mechanisms of immunomodulatory therapies.
